Q1: What was your inspiration for creating the bears and writing the books?

The Amputeddies were first made for the president of the company Jean Boelter who became a lower extremity amputee at the age of five. First bear was made out of an old dish towel and a toilet paper roll.

The bears satisfy an emotional need for children of all ages and provide an emotional outlet for adults.

 

Q4: Do your bears fit all amputees?

 

Yes, bears can be custom made to show the specific limb difference of the receiver of the bear.

 

Q5: Will you ever think of making arms or legs for the bears?

 

No due to manufacturing restrictions

No basic bears are usually readily available in our inventory however custom bears take six to eight weeks to deliver
