Last year’s 2007 Amputee Conference was a big success. The ACA has hired new people to run it and you could see their dedication and commitment to the event. There seemed to be more Upper Extremity Amputees in attendance and there were even a few clinics directed at them. I was unable to attend the clinics because they ran at the same time as the Expo was open and therefore I needed to be at the table. But it was nice to FINALLY see UEA getting some attention as well as LEA. It will be interesting to see what this year brings in terms of this trend.

The table was a big success last year. We did not have wands or Tiaras but we did have pencils, rubber ducks with crowns and cookies. We were able to secure a donation from Coach of a Hampton’s Weekend Satchel bag to raffle off. We also had a gift certificate to Toys R US for the children. The winners of the two raffles were Arthur Bremer for the Toys R US certificate and Sharon Cox for the Coach bag. Arthur was planning on taking his three grandchildren shopping as soon as he got home. Sharon was extremely please with her prize. She has always wanted a Coach bag. Many thanks to Katie’s sister Maggie who works for Coach and was able to secure this most generous donation.
